Belgium to us Brits is quite an odd place. Although home to over 10 million people, and of course the European Union, for many of us it is a country that is visited from the motorway on the way to your final destination, and due to this we often only get a glimpse of this land of funny accents, over frothy beer, windmills and really thin houses. But this year we are giving you the chance to get stuck in and spend the weekend with us and thousands of European music lovers at the incredible alternative music festival now in its 21st year.....This is DOUR Festival 2009.
With a line up this year including Roots Manuva, Santigold, Deadmau5, Pet Shop Boys, Cocoon and Aphex Twin, Dour has always boasted and still boasts a line up to be noticed by all alternative music lovers. Even though there is always a great roster of artists who are hosehold names, you will find your weekend is taken up discovering new types and styles of music ranging from drum n bass to minimal techno, reggae to heavy metal and then scraping over samba, world, jazz, hip hop and funky before returning back to some of the biggest bands from the past 20 years.

With the music comes a great atmosphere and a fantastic range of people travelling from all over Europe to party together. Where at many festivals the crowd is dictated by the acts that are playing, the sheer diversity of acts at Dour means that it quite normal to find the odd rocker skanking out to Drum and Bass or the classic indie head grooving to some live experimental jazz. This really is an event that will have you opening your eyes to good music more than anything, and usually music that you would never have though twice to stick in the CD player.

If you’re still not convinced then take a look at the Dour website for a full line up and information on the facilities at the festival.
We had 10 tickets to Dour to give away and to people who could answer the following question:
Roots Manuva is performing at Dour this year, but can you fill in the missing word from his 2001 album?
